I want to connect with you about the work that the Canadian Association of Pregnancy Support Services (CAPSS) is doing. I appreciate the support that you have given and your heart for pregnancy care ministry. I want to keep you informed of both the challenges we are facing and the difference that your support is making!

There are a number of areas for concern in pregnancy care ministry across Canada.
• Sexual integrity and abstinence education are important areas of focus. There is much prayer needed for our centres to be allowed in schools to make abstinence-based presentations which educate the students on the risks involved and address issues of self-worth.

• Safe and affordable housing for women who choose to carry to term is another urgent need. A healthy, safe, and positive environment is key to the well-being of their unborn child and the mom’s ability to continue to provide for them.

• Support of local churches continues to be needed as it is so evident that we cannot work in this area of ministry alone. We need the local church community to come and walk alongside these women and families, to offer them support, mentorship, and God’s love.

• Staying true to our mission has been on my heart. We are called to offer support and education to the abortion-vulnerable and those impacted by unplanned pregnancy. This is highly counter-cultural, yet it is so important that we stay mission true and God-centered!

We are seeing success in many areas! April 2nd was our first CAPSS National Day of Prayer. It will be held each year on the Thursday before Easter.

The 2014 statistics and reports from our 70 affiliated centres are clear evidence of the impact that this ministry and your support is having on lives.

• “I had no hope and nowhere to turn and you were there for me” - representing the 6,062 new clients at affiliated centres.

• “I was wandering in the dark and you shone the light of Christ’s love for me” - representing the 2,572 clients who heard the gospel at affiliate centres.

These testimonies keep us pressing on!

Another area that I want to celebrate with you is the success of our very recent CAPSS National Conference! In my last letter, I shared with you some of the difficulties faced by pregnancy centres and thus the great need to encourage and equip them at conference. It is a large expense but I believe it is money well spent for something that is vital to sustaining the people on the front lines of this ministry.

One of the conference participants shared: “This conference has greatly impacted me. It is overwhelming to see people from across Canada, the USA, and other places. This was such a safe place to be where everyone was ‘on the same page.’ I pray that we go back to our homes filled with hope, peace, and enthusiasm.”

I echo her sentiment! It was wonderful to have 193 people attend conference, including 1 director from Australia and 1 director from Greece – together with CAPSS you are helping to encourage and equip directors world-wide!

This year at conference we held a board track with workshops specific to board member education. We were encouraged to see an increase in the number of board members attending - 44 this year!

As well as the board track, we held workshops specific to centre work, such as crisis intervention counselling, understanding sexual addiction, healthcare, and strengthening your team. We also had very positive response to the workshops on spiritual warfare, shame, adversity, and how to share the good news of the gospel through your testimony.

It was very affirming when one pregnancy centre director shared with me that she was feeling so burnt out and ready to quit, until she came to conference! Thank you for helping to provide for conference – a time to encourage and equip the dedicated people in this ministry.

I would like to share with you some of the message that I shared with those attending conference:
“I believe we are not to rally around a cause but instead come together for the cause of Christ. It is then that we are transformed and become empowered by His Holy Spirit, who grieves every injustice. God will use us and is using each one of us to bring hope to a broken and unjust world.
I am so thankful that it is not just our own individual mission but rather that it is God’s mission and He has called us to work together to achieve His purpose. I am thankful that, as scripture states, ‘The One who calls you is faithful and He will do it!’

Together as we share the good news of the opportunity to have a fresh start in life, with a clean slate, we know that God is faithful. He takes care of the heart that trusts in Him. He takes care of the mother, who He has designed with designer genes, to nurture the life that is within her. And He offers forgiveness and healing for all to be set free from past decisions and actions.”

I am so thankful for God’s faithfulness and that we are doing this work together! CAPSS mandate is to help establish, equip, and encourage pregnancy centres nationwide and we could not do this without you. I thank you for your commitment to this ministry and for your ongoing prayer and financial support.

I would love to hear from you! I invite you to contact me by phone (403-347-2827) or email (lola@capss.com) to share your heart for this ministry and hear more about what we are doing. Another great way to connect is to ‘’like’’ CAPSS on Facebook and receive regular posts and updates in your newsfeed.

I pray you are encouraged and blessed as you catch a glimpse of what God is doing through you in pregnancy care ministry across Canada!
